The Sagadahoc County Democrats need you!
To win elections, Democrats need to work year-round, in off-cycle years as well as election years. Please sign up and help us build NOW for 2008.
Campaign/Elections Committee
The tasks of this committee will be to recruit, support, and work to elect candidates at all levels; communicate with County legislators and State officials to increase our effectiveness on their behalf (including current issues on which they need support); and to feed constituents’ issues and concerns to them.
Development Committee
This committee will be responsible for planning and coordinating the SCDC’s two major fundraising events each year. Currently, these include the Spring Gathering and the Share the Harvest Celebration. Additional fundraising initiatives may be added depending on need, energy and creativity of the group.
Issues Committee
This committee will be responsible for prioritizing, monitoring and creating awareness of issues of state and national concern to local Democrats. Activities may include: organizing public events, sponsoring educational forums, coalition-building with associated organizations, coordinating letter-writing campaigns, creating action alerts, and bringing speakers to monthly county meetings.
Recruitment and Outreach Committee
This committee has as its overall goal to build the Democratic community. Specifically, this group will be responsible for building a volunteer base (including knowing who likes to do what, and holding appropriate Thank You events); focus on growing the party within targeted groups (union, youth, family, Unenrolleds, etc.); and developing a Welcome Wagon-type program to get to know new Democrats in our towns.
External Communications Committee
This committee’s overall responsibility will be to create and disseminate a unified and continuous image of the SCDC to the public-at-large. Specific tasks will include distributing meeting notices, writing and distributing press releases of events, maintaining an updated web site, and developing an SCDC brochure.
